This half term our learning challenge question is "Which materials should the Three Little Pigs have used to build their houses?"
In English we will be exploring narrative and writing sentences, practising our handwriting and letter formation. To support this you could ask your child to retell the story of the Three Little Pigs including a clear beginning, middle and end.
We will also be reading Stick Man by Julia Donaldson and Stanley's Stick by John Hegley.
In Maths we will be concentrating on number and place value. We will be learning our number bonds to 5 and 10, learning to count in 2s, 5s and 10s and we will be learning to count up to 100 and back.
During this topic we will learn about different materials and their properties. You could talk to your child about the different materials in your home and sort them by properties i.e: hard, soft, bumpy, shiny etc.
We will test straw, wood and bricks and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each in terms of building different structures in Science and D&T.
We will explore movement in Dance and using our singing voices in Music.
