New to Reception in 2020

Dear Children,

It is my very great pleasure to welcome you to Stalyhill Infant School, we can't wait to meet you and begin laughing and learning with you all very soon.

I am sure that some of you are a little bit nervous about starting school this year, it is a very big step for you and, because we all need to stay at home at the moment, you might not get the chance to come and look round school and meet your new teachers like you normally would.

Please don't worry though as we are still going to make sure that we give you as much information as we can about us, and learn as much information as we can about you. Your new teachers are working hard at the moment to plan how we can do that.

Remember too, that all your new friends will be in exactly the same boat, so when you do all start school you will all be making friends and learning about each other together.

Whilst you are waiting to start school, there are some things at home that you can be practising with your family - can you practise;

  • Putting your shoes and socks on by yourself?
  • Getting dressed by yourself?
  • Washing your hands thoroughly?
  • Eating your lunch with a knife and fork?
  • Recognising your name when it is written down?
  • Putting your coat on and zipping it up?
  • Asking a grown-up for help with something you find tricky?

If you want to, you can also see our Reception teachers - Miss Wright and Miss Bennett - right now. Scroll further down this page and they are there reading you all a story.

We can't wait to meet you all soon and we know that you're going to love it at Stalyhill Infants and we're going to love having you. Until we see you take lots of care and keep smiling and laughing! smiley

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome! This web page is being built with all of you in mind. We will keep uploading new information as often as we can so please check back each week.

It would be a great idea to follow us on Twitter too - @StalyhillInfant - we post regularly and its a great way to get a feel for our school and see what we are getting up to at the moment.

Our DVD prospectus is also available on the website - there is a direct link to it on the homepage - this is something that you can watch with your child as it will also give you both a feel for the school and what life as a Stalyhill pupil is like.

Over the next few weeks, we aim to get in touch with you all personally and also to speak to the nursery settings that the children have attended, to find out as much information as we can so that we are fully ready to welcome your child as soon as we can.

Please don't worry! I know that is very easy for me to say and for you this a huge moment, one that is being made all the more difficult because of the current situation, but we are here for you and we will do all we can to ensure that all of your children are able to transition safely into school, and are happy and settled with us in no time.

In the meantime, please have a good look around the website and see if the information on here answers any of the questions you currently have, otherwise we will be in touch very soon.

Take care and stay safe,

Mrs Lockett
