Each year, in an effort to give parents advance warning and enable parents to plan for our yearly events we put together a list of our pre-planned events and outlined our fundraising causes.
In some circumstances, such as an international relief effort for a disaster, we may add in additional fundraising days, however we will endeavour to keep changes to a minimum.

Occasionally parents ask us to support additional causes throughout the year which may be close to their own hearts. Unfortunately we are not always able to agree to such requests as we already have a full programme of fundraising and charity support across the year.
In the last couple of year’s school budgets have been dramatically reduced, this has led to us needing to increase our fundraising efforts for school funds and we very much appreciate parent’s support with this.
The PTA also run several events throughout the year in order to raise funds for larger projects across the Infant and Junior schools.
Please note that all contributions to and participation in the above events is completely voluntary.

European Elections - Thursday 23rd May
Fri 10 May 2019We have now had confirmation from the Local Authority that the European Elections will be going ahead on Thursday 23rd May and that this day will therefore be a day of closure to children at the Infant School.
Can I apologise once again for the disruption and inconvenience that this will undoubtedly cause families but as previously stated this was an unexpected election and not something that the school or Governing Body were able to influence or refuse.
Many thanks
Mrs L. Lockett

Polling Day – 2nd May 2019
Mon 29 Apr 2019As you will know, Thursday 2nd May is designated as a polling day for the local elections. This year, as we did last year, we will remain open on the day and polling will be going ahead as usual in our hall but the school day will carry on around it.
Can I firstly assure parents that the school hall will be securely, externally locked and therefore no member of the public or member of the polling staff will have access to the rest of the school, unsupervised, at any time. We have gone to great lengths to ensure that all procedures on that day robustly adhere to our safeguarding practices and duty of care to the children.
Reception children will be out of the school building that day on their trip to Cannon Hall Farm and the coach will pick up and drop off outside the school building as normal.
Years 1 and 2 will remain in school and will run their day completely normally with the exception of lunchtime. As we will have no access to the school hall at lunchtime, we have made arrangements with the kitchen staff to provide a ‘picnic-style’ lunch for the children on that day. This will be eaten outside, like a proper picnic, if the weather is fine or in classrooms if the weather is poor. Packed lunch children may bring their own lunches and eat with their friends as usual.
Wise Owl before and after school club will also run as usual on the day and will follow the same alternative access arrangements as last polling day. Please contact Wise Owl directly for any further clarification.
Traffic around the school will undoubtedly be increased during the day and particularly at drop off and pick up times and in that regard I do ask for your patience and consideration during those times.
Thank you all very much for your continued support,
Many thanks
Mrs L. Lockett

Please note:
We send dates out well in advance in an attempt to support parents to be able to take time off from work or make arrangements to attend if they wish. We aim to keep to these dates as far as is practically possible, however it must be noted that in certain circumstances it may be necessary to rearrange or even cancel events. This is particularly the case for Sports Day which is only held weather permitting.
Where times have not yet been finalised – Year 2 production, exact timings for Sports Day – these will be issued nearer the time.
If it transpires that the country is not involved in the forthcoming EU elections and that school can therefore remain open, we will endeavour to let parents know at the earliest possible time.
We appreciate your support and understanding.
