Useful Information
PE/Physical Development:
In Reception, we have a PE session with our sports coach every Friday.
We ask that children come to school dressed in their PE kit on a Friday.
Phonics and reading:
Reading books in Reception are changed every Thursday. The books we bring home at the beginning of the year can be read to us and with us. These texts help us to become familiar with handling books and give us the opportunity to practise skills such as turning the page, identifying the title, using illustrations to gather meaning etc.
When we know enough sounds and we are beginning to blend and read, we will come home with a Read, Write Inc. Book bag book. These books are changed every Thursday and are closely matched to our phonic ability.
There are also a wide range of books and story sacks to choose from in our school library where all are welcome to use after school. Please just enter school from the school office, where you will be signed in and guided to our library.
Snack time;
We are provided with a piece of fruit to eat at morning break time each day, but some parents may wish to provide their child with their own snack. We just ask that a chosen snack from home is a healthy snack and nut free.
Until we turn 5, we are also provided with free milk. Once we are 5, parents can decide whether they want to pay for us to continue having milk. If this is something that you would like to do, please just contact the office and they would be more than happy to assist you.
Your child will also have constant access to water so please ensure that you provide your child with a named water bottle for them to drink from during the day.
