Useful Information
PE/Physical Development:
In Reception we have a PE session with our sports coach on a Friday.
We all join in with Progression to Pedals on a Wednesday, where we learn to ride a balance bike and then a pedal bike. This helps us to develop our fine and gross motor skills too.
Phonics and reading:
We have our reading books changed on a Friday each week. The books we bring home at the beginning of the year can be read to us and with us. They are to help us become familiar with books, turning the page, identifying the title etc.
When we are starting to blend our letter sounds, we will come home with an additional phonics reading book - Read, Write Inc. Book bag book. These books are changed during our final phonics lesson of the week, usually on Thursday and are closely matched to our phonic ability.
There is also a wide range of books to choose from in our school library, parents are welcome to use the library with us after school.
Snack time;
We are provided with a piece of fruit to eat at morning break time each day, but some parents may wish to provide their own snack. Please ensure that these are healthy and do not contain chocolate or too much sugar.
Until we turn 5, we are also provided with free milk. Once we are 5 parents can decide whether they want to pay for us to continue having milk. Please speak to the office if you do.
