PE

 

In Year 1 we have PE with the sports coach on a Monday and with our teachers on a Thursday.

We leave our PE kits in school and try to bring them home for washing during the school holidays.

 

Phonics/reading

 

We change our Read, Write Inc. Book bag book during our final phonics lesson of the week. These books are closely matched to our phonic ability.

 

There is also a wide range of books to choose from in our school library, parents are welcome to use the library with us after school. Reading a range of books will build up our reading stamina and love of reading.

 

Phonics Screening check

 

In June we are given a check to assess our phonic knowledge. Our teachers carry out this check with us and they make it fun and not scary! All Year 1 children in the UK are given the phonics check, you can find out more details about it here;

Parents will be given the result of our phonics screening check (met required standard or not met required standard) in our end of year report.

Snack time;

 

We are provided with a piece of fruit to eat at morning break time each day, but some parents may wish to provide their own snack. Please ensure that these are healthy and do not contain chocolate, nuts or too much sugar. As a healthy school we ask that you only send water into school for your child to drink throughout the day.
