Alongside the learning that is available on our school website, please also remember that for those of you that would prefer more formal, video lessons delivered by a teacher, the Government have created the Oak National Academy which contain video lessons for that reason.

You can find them here; https://www.thenational.academy/online-classroom/schedule/

Please also remember that you or your child can submit learning that they have been doing to their teachers via the teacher email addresses. Teachers will respond to these.

    Calling all Stalyhill Super Scientists

We have some very exciting news.  We are taking part in this year’s Great Science Share For Schools! This annual event inspires young people to communicate their scientific questions and investigations to new audiences. Children can choose to share scientific work via Twitter or you could email it to Mrs Greer.  This could simply be any science that they may have already carried out at home or in class or they can choose something new to carry out on 16th June which is the date of this year’s event.  This is a day to celebrate where children are in their scientific journey and to embrace their interests.  We will start communicating ideas over the coming weeks via parent mail and Twitter so please keep a look out for further information about this exciting event so as we can help you prepare to share your amazing science on 16th June.

Please could you let Mrs Greer know if you wish to take part in this event or if you want to find out more.  You can email her using mrsgreer@stalyhill-inf.tameside.sch.uk.  You know how much Mrs Greer loves Science! She would love you ALL to take part this year.  How exciting!

  • Key Worker Update

    Thu 19 Mar 2020

Those of you that have watched the Prime Minister’s briefing this evening will know that he still hasn’t given schools the list of who will be classed as a ‘key-worker’. We are very well aware that other schools have already started sending out lists of key-workers to parents, however at this time these schools are making assumptions about who is going to be included and have no factual information as this is yet to be released. It only takes a brief online search to discover that the lists and ‘facts’ that schools are putting out to parents widely differ from school to school which proves their inaccuracy.

We understand that no information is frustrating for parents at the moment but I am determined to only send out factually correct information to you and am therefore waiting until we are properly informed. The last thing I would want is for you to make plans based on incorrect information to only then have to change them again.

The details are coming, the Government have to release them soon and as soon as I have them, you will have them.

Please bear with me and I will be in touch again as soon as I can.

    Thank you

    Mrs Lockett

  • Science Week 9th – 13th March

    Tue 10 Mar 2020

We have got lots of exciting activities planned for Science Week this year which takes place between 9th and 13th March with the theme this year being ‘Our Diverse Planet’.  Each child will require a small box during this week for one of the activities (a shoe box would be perfect).  Please could we ask that your child brings in a small box with their name on by Tuesday 10th March.

During Science Week, we would like to focus one of the days on the diverse range of creatures we have on our planet and would like to invite all the children to come to school on Thursday 12th March dressed as a camouflaged creature!  If your child does not have a particular animal outfit, they may wish to choose something like a polar bear where they can come dressed in white so they could camouflage themselves in an arctic environment or maybe a green frog which would be camouflaged in a rainforest environment.  We cannot wait to see a diverse selection of creatures arriving at school on 12th March!  If you have any queries, please speak to Mrs Greer (Science Lead).
