  • World Book Day and Joint Venture

    Wed 28 Feb 2018

As you know, tomorrow (Thursday 1st March) is World Book Day and our Joint Venture during which children at both the Infant and Junior schools work together for the day. We have lots of exciting things planned and several external companies coming in to work with the children at both sites.

Obviously the weather has been very bad in recent days and we are concerned that this may be the case again tomorrow – we don’t seem to be able to trust the forecasts!

If the weather is bad tomorrow and paths and pavements are icy, we have decided that we will still run the activities but the children will remain at their own schools. This is so that we can ensure their safety.

We also know that the children are really looking forward to dressing up as their favourite character. This decision is up to you, if you would prefer your child to come in their normal school clothes then that will be absolutely fine. If your child does come in fancy dress, please ensure they have a warm coat and sensible footwear.

Obviously if the weather is really bad and we have to close our schools we will think about re-scheduling the day for another time but as always this will be as a last resort.

    Weather

We are open today however roads around school are dangerous. Mottram Old Road is not clear and Stalyhill Drive has not been gritted and is dangerous.

We are aware that some other local schools have closed.

PLEASE only attempt the journey to school if you feel it is safe to do so.

If you feel that coming to school in your personal circumstances would prove dangerous to yourself and your child, please do not attempt the journey.

Children that do not attend school on extreme snow days will be given a Y code for attendance which will not affect their attendance record.

No late marks will be given.

We will aim to get all children in to school via the Year 1 door as they arrive so please don't set off too early as you may be waiting around at the front of school.
