Christmas Jumper Day
Thu 08 Dec 2016Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day
On Friday 9th December we are inviting pupils to take part in Christmas Jumper Day. On that day, the children can wear non-uniform along with their most festive, silliest or cosiest jumpers/tops and make a donation of £1 to help Save the Children to give hope to families in difficulty this Christmas.
Please don’t splash out on a snazzy sweater to take part – you can decorate an old or plain top with tinsel, baubles or homemade snowflakes to create your own unique jumper.
Please send your donations into school on Friday 9th December. Thank you.

Non Uniform Day – Friday 18th November
Fri 11 Nov 2016This year Children in Need falls on the same day as our non-uniform day in support of the PTA chocolate tombola. We fully appreciate that many families also like to donate to Children in Need so we will also accept cash donations for CIN alongside the chocolate tombola donations. The theme for Children in Need is spots so the children may like to come dressed in spotty non-uniform that day!

#Lovetoread
Thu 03 Nov 2016#Lovetoread
#LovetoRead is a campaign to celebrate reading.
Reading is one of life's greatest joys and can awaken our imagination, inspire and challenge us - not just as children, but throughout our lives. Therefore the BBC have put together a comprehensive and exciting season of programmes putting reading centre-stage this autumn.
Tameside Libraries together with Bardsley construction are trying to find the ‘Books that built a nation’. Please encourage your children to visit www.tameside.gov.uk/lovetoread and vote for their favourite read.

**Team GB Paralympian Michael Churm visit**
Wed 02 Nov 2016We all enjoyed our visit from Team GB Paralympian Michael Churm. Each class completed some sponsored fitness circuits with Michael and then he talked to us in a special assembly.
Michael told us how his disability has never held him back and how we can achieve anything if we set our mind to it and never give up.
We told Michael all about our Super Learner characters and how we all try to display perseverance and determination like Michael and Keep Going Kate, Teamwork Tina, Thinking Theo and Reflective Ravi.
Michael was very impressed with our growth mindset and our inquisitive questions.
What a great afternoon!

Sponsored event
Wed 19 Oct 2016We’re excited to be welcoming GB Paralympic sprinter Michael Churm to school on Tuesday 1st November.
Michael will be leading some energetic fitness circuits with the children and hosting an assembly with a Q&A session to help inspire the children into more sport and exercise.
(Please can you ensure all the children have their PE kits in school on Tuesday 1st November.)
We’re asking parents and family members to help by sponsoring their children to complete the fitness circuits in order to raise money for our school to buy more sports equipment.
There are two easy ways to sponsor the children: using paper sponsorship form that has been sent home with your child, or go to www.sportsforschools.org/sponsormychild
The sponsor money should be collected once the event has taken place and returned to school no later than Tuesday 8th November. Please return in a marked envelope to the school office.
The children are already very excited. We will keep you informed via the website on the total amount raised and photographs of the event.
