  • Tennis 4 Kids sessions @ Priory Tennis

    Fri 20 Apr 2018 L Plant

The children have enjoyed a great day taking part in Tennis sessions with Andy from Priory Tennis in Stalybridge.

Andy has made us aware of some events taking place at Priory tennis. Please see below for details.

Our Open weekend is this weekend 21st/22nd April and children in Reception, year 1 / 2 / 3 &4 can come along and do some tennis free of charge at the club. I’ll be running a free coaching session for the juniors on court, after which parents (and older siblings) can come on and have a go. Refreshments will be provided and the weather is forecast to be warm and sunny!

    Saturday starts at 12.30pm

    Sunday at 1.30pm

Also we have a Tennis 4 Kids course starting on Monday April 30th. This 6 week course is ideal for children who have never played tennis before and want to get started. Courses are running nationally with the LTA involved and the course at Priory will run from 4-5pm for 6 weeks.

The cost is £25 but as well as the 6 weeks coaching you also receive a brand new racquet, balls and a t-shirt with the child’s name printed on it. Children will also receive stickers each week as they make progress on court.

To sign up all you need to do is go to:

    www.clubspark.lta.org.uk

    Click on tennis 4 kids

    Put in postcode SK15

Then you will see our courses and the ages they are designed for (we also have some for children aged 8-11). Register, sign up and pay securely online.

Other sessions do run during the week and on Saturdays as part of our year round programme and to find out more just contact head coach Andy Perry direct on:

    andyperrytennis4all@gmail.com or call 07525795445.

Advance diary dates for the summer term are now available in the parent newsletter section of the website.
  • Easter Egg Competition

    Fri 16 Mar 2018

This year we are holding a ‘decorate an egg’ competition for the children to enter. The competition will be split into year groups and there will be an Easter Egg prize for the winner and runner up in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. The competition will be judged by Mr Gray, our Chair of Governors.

The competition will take place on Wednesday 28th March and any children wishing to enter should bring their decorated egg to school on that day.

As in previous years, the PTA have kindly donated a small Easter gift for every child in school and the children will also receive these that day.

We look forward to seeing the children’s creations and will ensure that we post plenty of photographs on our Twitter feed @StalyhillInfant and on our website.

  • World Book Day Rescheduled Date – Friday 9th March 2018

    Mon 05 Mar 2018

    Dear Parents and Carers,

As we had to cancel our World Book Day celebrations last week due to the heavy snow, we are proposing to run World Book Day this Friday instead. We will not be running the joint venture activities on the same day as they will require a little more re-organisation and will therefore take place later in the year.

The children will receive their World Book Day voucher today and on Friday the children can attend school in their World Book Day costumes and we will celebrate all things reading in school.

May I also take this opportunity to remind you that the book fair will be in school whilst Parent’s Evening is taking place and children can use their World Book Day vouchers as part payment towards books at the fair.

We look forward to seeing all your fabulous costumes on Friday!

  • Continuing School Closure

    Fri 02 Mar 2018

We have taken the decision to remain closed on Friday 2nd March due to continuing snow and very high winds. The school site has been assessed today and it is unlikely that we would be able to clear it and make it safe for children, staff and parents in time for opening tomorrow. We understand that this may be inconveniencing some parents and it is therefore not a decision we take lightly, however we feel that safety must come first in this instance. We hope to re-open as normal on Monday 5th March unless this weather continues.

    Thank you for your understanding.

  • School closure

    Thu 01 Mar 2018
Due to worsening weather conditions and for the safety of all children, staff and parents getting to school this morning, we have taken the decision to close school today. We apologise for any inconvenience this causes.
  • World Book Day and Joint Venture

    Wed 28 Feb 2018

As you know, tomorrow (Thursday 1st March) is World Book Day and our Joint Venture during which children at both the Infant and Junior schools work together for the day. We have lots of exciting things planned and several external companies coming in to work with the children at both sites.

Obviously the weather has been very bad in recent days and we are concerned that this may be the case again tomorrow – we don’t seem to be able to trust the forecasts!

If the weather is bad tomorrow and paths and pavements are icy, we have decided that we will still run the activities but the children will remain at their own schools. This is so that we can ensure their safety.

We also know that the children are really looking forward to dressing up as their favourite character. This decision is up to you, if you would prefer your child to come in their normal school clothes then that will be absolutely fine. If your child does come in fancy dress, please ensure they have a warm coat and sensible footwear.

Obviously if the weather is really bad and we have to close our schools we will think about re-scheduling the day for another time but as always this will be as a last resort.

  • Weather

    Wed 28 Feb 2018

    Weather

We are open today however roads around school are dangerous. Mottram Old Road is not clear and Stalyhill Drive has not been gritted and is dangerous.

We are aware that some other local schools have closed.

PLEASE only attempt the journey to school if you feel it is safe to do so.

If you feel that coming to school in your personal circumstances would prove dangerous to yourself and your child, please do not attempt the journey.

Children that do not attend school on extreme snow days will be given a Y code for attendance which will not affect their attendance record.

No late marks will be given.

We will aim to get all children in to school via the Year 1 door as they arrive so please don't set off too early as you may be waiting around at the front of school.
