  • Weather update for 17/01/18

    Wed 17 Jan 2018

    Weather

We are open today however roads around school are dangerous. Mottram Old Road is not clear and Stalyhill Drive has not been gritted as yet.

PLEASE only attempt the journey to school if you feel it is safe to do so.

If you feel that coming to school in your personal circumstances would prove dangerous to yourself and your child, please do not attempt the journey.

Children that do not attend school on extreme snow days will be given a Y code for attendance which will not affect their attendance record.

No late marks will be given.

We will aim to get all children in to school via the front door as they arrive so please don't set off too early as you may be waiting around at the front of school.

  • Weather

    Thu 07 Dec 2017

    Weather

In the event of severe weather conditions the following guidelines should be used in case of snow:-

Look at the School Website – www.stalyhill-inf.tameside.sch.uk. This will be updated on a daily basis to inform you if the school is closed.

Check your emails/text messages as a Parentmail will be sent out to keep you informed of the situation.

Listen to the local radio stations – Key 103, Tameside Radio.

We will endeavour to keep school open. However, our priority is the safety of the children, and if the conditions are hazardous or a number of staff are unable to get in, then we may have to close.

    Important:

If school remains open, it becomes the decision of individual parents as to whether or not they bring their child.

If you feel that coming to school in your personal circumstances would prove dangerous to yourself and your child, please do not attempt the journey.

Children that do not attend school on extreme snow days will be given a Y code for attendance which will not affect their attendance record.

  • Non Uniform Day – Friday 17th November

    Fri 10 Nov 2017

This year once again, Children in Need falls on the same day as our non-uniform day in support of the PTA chocolate tombola. We fully appreciate that many families also like to donate to Children in Need so we will also accept cash donations for CIN alongside the chocolate tombola donations. The theme for Children in Need this year is ‘do your own thing’ so the children may like to come dressed in something that best represents them and their unique personalities!

    Many thanks

  • Outdoor Classroom Day

    Thu 05 Oct 2017

On Thursday 12th October, we are joining 18,000 schools on Outdoor Classroom Day. All children across our school will spend 45-60 minutes in the outdoor area; exploring the world around them, working in teams, and investigating the environment.

Your child should arrive to school in their uniforms as usual. Please provide your child with a named bag containing wellies and clothing suitable for 'muddy' outdoor learning.

Thank you for your continued support.

  • Sports Day 2017

    Fri 14 Jul 2017

Thank you so much to all the parents that turned out to watch the children at Sports Day yesterday. We had a fantastic day and the weather was kind to us! There are a selection of photographs from the day on our Gallery page now.

Thank you too to everyone for the fantastic response to the sponsorship, we are looking at having raised in excess of £1,000 which will make a big difference to us in terms of buying resources and equipment next year. We will let you know the exact figure raised as soon as we have it but thank you once again for your extreme generosity!

  • Year 2 Production – ‘The Bee Musical’

    Fri 07 Jul 2017

Year 2 Production – ‘The Bee Musical’

As you know rehearsals are underway for our end of year production. We will be performing the show on 2 separate dates. Show dates are Tuesday 18th July at 6.30pm (Please could children be brought back to school for 6pm), and Wednesday 19th July at 10am. The performance should last no longer than 1 hour.

We are not allocating tickets for the performance and you (or other family members) can attend both performances if you wish, however we do ask that no more than 2 adults per child attend each performance as our hall space and seating is limited. This will be monitored on entry.

Please continue to help your child learn their lines and the songs and please can all costumes be in school by this Wednesday 12th July. Thank you for all those that have already sent costumes in to school.

If you have any questions, please speak to a member of the Year 2 team.

    Thank you.

  • Year 2 trip - The Chestnut Centre reminders 5/07/17

    Tue 04 Jul 2017

Year 2 trip – 05/7/17– The Chestnut Centre reminders

    • The children can arrive at school at the normal time of 8.50am as the coach will be departing at 9.15am. We are aiming to be back at school by 3.15pm. However, it is impossible to predict the traffic and we will keep you updated via parent mail as our journey back progresses.

    • For those children on school dinners, a packed lunch will be provided. Children on packed lunches will need to bring their lunch in a carrier bag. Please ensure it is clearly named and all contents can be thrown away.

    • We will have drink breaks before setting off at 9.15am, at lunchtime and on returning at approx. 3pm, but children can also bring an extra drink in a disposable water bottle if they would like. Please note that children will have to carry these themselves.

    • Please ensure your child wears full school uniform and, as the trip will involve some walking, also wears appropriate footwear for the weather on the day (trainers or wellies) and brings a waterproof if necessary.

    • Following a cloudy start, the current weather forecast is dry and sunny, with temperatures of up to 23 degrees. Should this be the case please ensure your child has had adequate sun cream applied before arriving at school, as we will not be able to reapply during the day, and has a sun hat.

Any questions, please speak to a member of the Year 2 team.
